Should i shave my balls?

I am 17 and known for being hairy.. and i have a gf and we are starting to get sexually active.. but idk if i should shave totally bald.. i trim, but i feel so uncomfortable shaving it all bald.. like im loosing my manhood or something idk. All my friends do it and they tell me too. Idk what my girl will think of me though.
