Should I shave part of my head?

I'm thinking about shaving part of the right side of my head. I'm going to wait until my hair grows out a little bit more to just past my shoulders. Is this a horrible idea? I have straight sandy blonde, almost brown hair. My face shape is kind of heart and oval shaped. I know it would be a pain to grow out, but do you think it would be worth it if it looks good while I have it? Also... any opinions on the style in general?
